6 months old and furniture standing!!

Does anyone have a 6 month old that pulls themselves up with anyone/anything and wobbly stands? My daughter is doing that and I've had to keep her in a playpen most of the time so she's safe. When I do let her out, she pulls herself up with anything and often hits her head or face cause she's too wobbly!  My dad says keeping her in the playpen will stunt her development but it's the safest place for her. Any tips?
