Anyone else having a home birth?

Are you telling people? I work at a birth center and most people assume I am going to have the baby there but since that place is my main source of stress, I don't want to go there in labor. I can see my local hospital from my house and really love the midwife that we hired but I know my family will have nothing but negative things to say about it.

I'm having a home, water birth. Most people are freaked out about it but don't really have the nerve to say anything negative. Most comments I've gotten so far have been "you're brave". It doesn't feel brave to me, just natural...Which is what I'm going for.

I have had a home birth with my third baby and I loved it. I was supposed to have one with my fourth, but things didn't work out with the midwife. The laws changed here and there were a couple midwives working in the area that I wouldn't trust. So with this baby I an going to a hospital a little father away (an hour compared to 20 mins) so I can have a midwife and a water birth and not have to have or do anything I don't want. The hospitals closer don't have midwives, no water births and they try to pressure you to do things that you might not want.

With my home birth, I did tell people. I got strange looks and comments like either you're brave or your crazy and I'd never do something like that. Then when I went over a week past my due date, I had a couple people tell me that I needed to get to the hospital right away and I was putting my baby in danger. Well I pushed past all of that and he came when he was ready in the water weighing 8lbs, 21 inches and perfectly healthy. I'm so glad I did what I wanted and didn't let people get to me.

I would LOVE a home birth! I was initially planning to have a water birth at home; get a small inflatable pool and not have the stress of the hospital (there are several birthing centres nearby, so if things went wrong, I could always go to one of those)

But no. Doctor said that as I had a hip replacement, she didn't want to risk any kind of natural birth, so now I have to have a c-section :(
