why is he so scared?

my FWB is starting to catch feelings for me i think..that process has already happened for me, but this guy keeps telling me he doesn't have a heart and he's a bad person. He told me that i have beautiful eyes and hat he never compliments anyone. And he mumbeled that he loves being around me and i pretended like i didn't hear cos i wanted to hear him say it again but he denied it and said never mind. when we got back to our school he jetted out of my car as fast as he could. I'm confused :/ is he catching feelings for me or?
