Water at 7 months?

My daughter is 7 months tomorrow and her daycare said that she's ready to drink water from a cup. They've been doing it for the past 2 weeks. I thought she got all her hydration from her Formula?

I think it's crazy that her daycare is telling you what your daughter is ready for... you should be making that decision

Everything I have read including on the NHS website suggest babies should have water once they are eating solids, so roughly 6 months. Formula fed babies can have it from 4 months in very hot weather. 
So I guess it all depends how old your child is.

Our pedi told us once she started solids to give her a few ounces of water a day so she didn't get constipated. We started at 6 months.

You should check with your pediatrician, but babies are generally not supposed to drink water because it can cause electrolyte imbalances that can reach dangerous levels pretty quickly.

My pediatrician said 1 cup of water a day when your LO starts solids around 6 months. If you'd like to . I don't think it's needed till a year.

You *can* introduce water at 6 months but you don't HAVE to! It's normally for when they're eating solids and their poops change so that they don't become constipated. If you don't think your baby needs it they don't give it 💁🏻 you're mama you make the decisions
