I haven't lived with my parents for over a year and a half! I just turned 18... My dad claimed me on his taxes so he could get more money. My fiancé and I had a baby when I was 16.... My fiancé was going to claim me because he has been paying for everything for me. My dad filed before us and claimed me... Can he do that? Should he be able to do that? I think it's bullshit because I have on my own for over a year... What's your opinion???

If your bf files you on his they'll look into it and see you don't live home. I believe what your father did can get him in trouble with the tax man

Talk to a tax professional. My mom was one and claimed me until I got married at 21, even though I didn't live with them for more than a few weeks a year after my 18th birthday. If he claimed you illegally there are ways to fight it, but I'd really recommend talking to someone who knows.

Yes it bull because your fiancé takes care of you and your dad can get in trouble just have your husband claim you and you go with him and tell them what happened and that you do not live with your parents

You could fight that and then your dad would have to pay back all the money he received for you. You just need proof that he hasn't help you for a year or so.

Go to the it's website and fill out the form for tax fraud. It's illegal for him to claim you if he's not supporting you at all. Go ahead and have your SO claim you but make sure you file the tax fraud form as well for your dad.
