I can't be the one to judge on that one , I was 13 dating a 18 year old who did drugs. I never tried them because I used to play sports. It gave me a lot of knowledge and a good perspective on relationships. It only lasted about 3 months but it was a really great eye opener. I'm not encouraging you to be in a relationship like that but just be safe and don't force anything .

It isn't ideal. Age differences between teens mean that your maturity level will be typically a lot lower/different than his. People change a LOT as well so in a couple years you may not feel the same connection. It's tricky but not impossible, as long as you are willing to grow and learn together it should be fine.

My boyfriend is 16 this month, and I'm 17. It is hard enough with a 13 month age difference, I could never date a person younger than him. Ugh. (On the other hand, i have dated someone 2.5 years older than me so you know)

I don't think that's a bad age at all! I started dating my boyfriend when I was 14 and he was 18! We've been together for 2 years now and still going strong! Just make sure he respects your decisions on sex (whatever decision you might have about it) and that he doesn't pressure you to do anything you don't want to do! Be safe!

right now it could be kinda bad bc of legal issues with you being a minor, but when you get older it's not a big age difference at all.

It is because once he turns 18, you're a minor and you can't be together until you're 16....but even then, once he turns 21, he will have to wait until you're 18. State law prohibits relationships with minors. He could have statutory rape charges against him for dating you once he turns 18. Be careful! If he gets those charges, it will ruin him for the rest of his life because he will become a sex offender and labeled as a child molester. I'm 27 and it happened to a very good friend of mine when she was in junior high and dating a junior boy. He has no future now because of the charges.

A 3 year difference isn't that big of a deal especially when you get older. However, right now you're both in different places therefore it may not work out. I assume you're in junior high & he is going to graduate in a year or so. Your high school life will be starting as soon as his adult/college life will be starting. I mean, if you try you can make it work but it will probably be difficult. If anything in a few years you may have better luck with it.

My parents are 12 years apart . 
I used that against them when they didn't want me to date a junior when I was 13. If you're emotionally and mentally ready for the bad sides to it , there's no problem.

Three years when your an adult is no big deal, but when you're that young it is. I know that's not the answer you were looking for, but it's the one I know to be true. You guys are just at different stages in your life. I say enjoy your time with him for now,  and if you last forever, more power to ya. But be realistic about the fact the soon he will be potentially going off to college and you will still be in hs. My boyfriend was only one grade about me and less than a year older, but when he graduated and I was still in hs for another year it was hard not to see him every day at school. And he took evening classes so he could work and then it was hard to see each other. Even when we both had free time it was hard because I lived 40 minutes away from him. So I guess to wrap it up, enjoy the time you have together, but be realistic about your future ❤
