Listeria - have you ever had it? ❌

Question

By meats I mean cured meats, raw fish and all the others than you're technically not supposed to eat during pregnancy.

In Japan I've heard that doctors don't impose dietary restrictions, and my midwife in the UK said the risks were very low.

Please let me know your experience!

America is about 40 years behind on its information on what pregnant women can/cannot eat/drink/do. 
I don't follow the majority of the restrictions we have in place, because they've either been debunked as not true or they're based on such a low risk that it's more likely your baby will be harmed from you driving a car and maybe ending up in an accident than it would eating/drinking/doing those things.

You are more likely to get listeria from bagged lettuce(pre-packaged salads) than from much meat.
And if you heat it up it's fine

No.  I ate subway and sushi while pregnant it's just America that Is so extra with everything you can't do or eat while pregnant

Last year a newborn had meningitis because the mom ignored dietary restrictions. I know it's rare but the fact that it could happen is why I gave all that stuff up during my pregnancy.

Yes I have heard of it. There was a huge recall about 6 or 7 years ago due to it in deli meat thanks to improper cleaning of the machine parts at a plant. There was also a recall of cheese from Quebec shortly after because of contamination.

The thing is though, there are many ways to come in contact with it. Most people don't even think about it.

The risks are low but lots of cases of listeria actually come from fruits of vegetables. Every pregnancy I questioned my doctor about deli meats and things of that sort and she said just limit the amount you eat but I wouldn't be worried about it

No but last time I was pregnant there was a chicken recall and I checked mine in the freezer and it was the same date and brand as the recall. 
And the bluebell ice cream recall had me scared to eat ice cream for awhile too. There are so many things that you need to careful about when pregnant. I did eat lunch meat but I made sure to heat it up first.

I've never had it. I eat deli meat but make zure its warmed up first. Just not gonna touch raw fish because i dont want the risk.
