Does having your cervix checked at 36 week appointment hurt or just feel uncomfortable?

I know some people who say cervix checks don't hurt, but it hurts when I get mine checked. Idk why! But everyone is different.

Update: had my 36 week appointment today and she checked my cervix to see how dialated I was- and after months of worrying about this appointment (my friend told me it was painful) - it didn't hurt at all!! It was easier than any regular pap. I know everyone is different (and it depends on a lot of things), but I hope this helps others who are worrying about upcoming appointments!

I was in A LOT of discomfort and started bleeding and cramping immediately. That was done yesterday morning and as of tonight I just have small amounts of brown spotting. (I'm 38+6 btw)

It honestly depends who does it and how. At 36 weeks the midwife that checked went fast to get it over with. At 37 weeks I had a different midwife  and she seemed a little more caring and went slower and it didn't hurt as bad.

Mine only hurt bc my cervix is still so high! So literally I tense up in pain! I want to kick the doctor lol. But if it's low it shouldn't hurt at all.

I never heard anything about the check hurting went in they decided to check just cause and it didn't hurt one bit!

I had it checked once at around 28 weeks because of some spotting and cramping I had that they were afraid was preterm labor, but wasn't. That one was definitely uncomfortable and slightly painful. I have one today at 35 weeks 4 days and it didn't hurt and wasn't uncomfortable at all.

Definitely doesn't feel good, but I wouldn't say it's 'painful'. Just feels like a lot of pressure.

It's a little uncomfortable depending if you are dilated or not. This is my second and it didn't bug me as much
