Induction? What do you think?

Question

So I am almost 37 weeks (36 weeks + 2) to be exact. I was discussing with my husband about induction and if we went in a week early at 39 weeks -ish. What are the thoughts behind inductions? Pros/cons? It is my first and I mean I am excited to meet my daughter and I'm not medically compromised at this time but I curious about induction or waiting for her to just arrive? Thanks in advance:)

Unless medically nesessary wait for baby to come. Nature our bodies and those babies know what they are doing.  Women have done it for eons without medical induction.

Speaking from experience on both... I was induced with my first at 39 weeks and went into labor with my second. I think it's way better all around to just go into labor. Just my 2 cents.

Induction increases your risk for unnecessary interventions and c- section.  First time moms on average don't go into labor until 41 weeks. Bad idea.

Why meddle with nature because you are impatient????? I am trying to keep him in as long as possible, these last few weeks are when his brain grows...  I want to give him the best start in life, and would NEVER force him out without absolute medical necessity.

Mine was absolutely horrible... lasted 27 hours. I will never do that to my body again unless they go over two weeks which is not likely. I will wait patiently versus that hellish ordeal again. Just being honest. At 39 weeks your are right there.. you will enjoy labor so much more if you let your body naturally labor

Personally, I want as natural a birth as possible. However, it's your choice.

The thing with induction is that if your body is ready, it can help speed things up but if not and you basically force your body to go into labor, it can take a long time and that can strain you and the baby which might make a section necessary.
I personally wouldn't make that choice before my due date unless it was medically indicated but if your baby is full term (39w) and you understand the risks, go for it.

Just keep in mind that some women do take more than 24 hrs to get fully dilated.
Also, from what I understood, if a balloon catheter or the gel were used first, it helps ready the cervix so it responds better to pitocin. Starting pitocin first especially if the cervix is not dilated, seems to always end in a section.

I had to be induced with my first and ended up in labor for 36 hours, truly traumatic experience! I wouldn't choose it unless medically necessary just let your body do it's thing and spend the week reading a book or going something else you won't have time for later  😂

From what I have heard and 2 friends this week induced.... its much more intense labour cramps and lasts longer... and higher risk of C section .... 
they both laboured for 40+hr and ended up C section.... 
personally I'd say natural labour w/o induction or a planned c section (much less stressful than emergency ones) are better ...

a 39 week induction is not so bad. either way your considered full term. so if it works for you then go for it.
