Should we just jump into IVF?

I have been doing some serious thinking and need some advice. Background: my husband has good sperm count, decent motility, but only morphology of 1% (normal is >4%). I have thin PCOS, not insulin resistant, AMH of 5. Cycles are 28-60 days, many annovulatory cycles. We "didn't prevent" for 6 months, then tried OPK/temping/supplements for another 6 months. Nothing. Took a break. Finally started trying again two months ago with two confirmed months of ovulation. Nothing. Our RE recommended IUI or IVF. At first I wanted to at least try IUI a few times, but now I'm second guessing. Insurance covers $20k of infertility. One round of IVF would use that up. IUI is about $2500. if we have a few failed rounds of IUI, it will really dip into that $20k so I'm thinking just jumping into IVF since it's much better odds. I just don't know if I'm jumping the gun here. I know I haven't even tried naturally with meds yet but if I've ovulated on my own and it didn't happen what use is it? Has anyone ever been in a similar situation? Does anyone have any advice?

Hi there, I was wondering if you ever had bloodwork to confirm ovulation? Because I have light PCOS too and thought for sure I was ovulating naturally (temps, OPKs, all that) but it turns out I never did. We did 1 year on our own, then meds, injections, 2 IUIs and am now on first IVF cycle. Did you have an HSG done? Mine was pretty interesting, showed I only have one functioning tube. That's why we jumped to IVF even though it wasn't on the planning for awhile.

I wouldn't jump! I ovulate on my own but have a shortened luteal phase my doctor prescribed clomid and I wayyy ovulated and got our bfp first round! I would try meds for a few months and tracking using opks! Don't give up! It's going to happen!!!!

We did get pregnant on our own twice but both ended in miscarriage so we started seeing an RE. She wanted to be able to better control things, especially my hormone levels. My estrogen and progesterone don't like to do what they are supposed to so she monitors close and prescibes what I need to make sure they are where they need to be to support the pregnancy.

We went with iui first mainly cause it's less invasive. My RE wanted the best odds so we used injectibles instead of pills. I responded well to the meds with both iui cycles I had 4 mature follicles each time. We got pregnant on the first iui but unfortunately it ended as a chemical and we are currently 9 weeks from the second try. There's only one in there but I wouldn't have been upset if there would've been more!

If sperm is the main issue then I would go IUI, ours was half that price at 1200 so you might shop around but they will give you meds to make sure they are placing his sperm at the right place and the right time. That's just my opinion. We were doing IUI before we had to stop for a while but it's because I have a lot of scar tissue and they wanted to by pass all of that. Currently I'm trying acupuncture because it's cheaper and drug free, just started last Saturday...
