When is everyone switching out of an infant car seat to a convertible one?

What's the point in switching if they still fit in the original car seat?

I will probably be getting the Grace 4ever seat so we will be switching our lo by 6 months. We will use it rear facing for as long as we can!

When he out grows( out weighs) his infant seat, and when I can find an appropriate one, in our state they have to be rear facing until 2 now no if ands or buts.

I think the new recommendation is by age 1. It's safer for a baby over the age of 1 to be in a rear facing convertible car seat. We switched my first around 8 months I think. He's still in that seat and he's 3. Once he's big enough for the bigger seat we bought him (booster with a back) I'll switch both of them. Hopefully some time this summer.

I plan on switching him when he's ready to sit in a stroller without the infant attachment. I have the britax-b safe infant car seat and it seems like he's so squished in it. Getting him in it if such a pain.

Well my boy is almost 4 months and I'd prefer to use the infant seat longer but he can only grow 2 more inches before he's too tall for it so we're gonna get a convertible soon.

My boy is only 15.5 pounds, but he is 27 inches tall so it's hard for him to fit in his infant seat. I'm going to put him in it for the next month just because it is easier with the harsh weather, but then at 5 months put him in the convertible.
