Clomid alone

Hello.. So last mo I did clomid with iui. The iui was done on cd11 which was a Friday. Since I'm paying out of pocket my Gyno did the procedure. This mo. I will ovulate Memorial Day weekend so of course the office is closed. They said to do the clomid and bd every other day starting cd7- odd days. I feel like I'm wasting another month. Has anyone heard of success with just clomid? And should I take mucinex with it since its drying out?!  Uugh so frustrated.
