bright red blood after sex

Husband and I just had sex. No pain during intercourse however after we were done there was blood on him and I was bleeding when I wiped. There was a decent amount, about the same as when you first start your period, maybe even a little more than that. I am still bleeding some (about an hour later). I called my doctor and they said that I should I moinitor and it should stop within 24 hours if it's not serious. Not sure if this means I'm going to be starting labor sooner than later?! Any thoughts opinions? Similar experiences that ended in labor shortly after?? I'll be 39 weeks on Sunday. 😊😊😊😊
