When To Get A Prom Dress?

For anyone who's been through the prom experience, when do you purchase the dress? How far in advance? My prom is in May but is March to early to shop and buy? Should I wait till later???

I went to prom sophomore year and got a dress 3 weeks before prom and it was so hard to find a cute dress. For my junior year prom, I started looking 7 months before prom 😂 My prom was in April and I ordered my dress in February

My prom was June two years ago and let me tell you, by January almost everything was sold out, had to go out of state to get a prom dress. Get one ASAP

I'd say about a month and a half before your prom. April and May are the most popular months to have a prom and by then, all of the good dresses are gone and all of the girls are fighting over the leftover dresses. You also have to get flowers, a tux for your date, set up salon appointments, etc. I felt like my prom was like planning a mini wedding except the venue and guests were taken care of.

I'd start now because finding a dress that looks good on you in your price range that fits your schools dress code can take a while and you may have to get it tailored as well, not to mention finding shoes and accessories.
