how long (minutes) should I breastfeed for?

My baby breast feeds for like 5-10 mins then she falls asleep??? Sometimes she's sleeping and can nurse for ever.... what's a normal range? Or is it just feed on demand? Idk not sure what's normal and if I'm over feeding her or feeding her too frequently! She will wake up every hour, feed for 10 mins then falls back asleep.

My 3 month old is typically nursing about 15 minutes every 2 hours during the day, and sleeps a 6-8 hour stretch at night. I'm trying not to obsess but I do worry she's not getting enough. She was 6 lbs 3 oz at her smallest (she lost a lb the first week after birth due to breastfeeding struggles) and weighs 10.5 lbs now...

If I push my sons head into my boob he'll start swallowing again even if he's dozed off. Try to get her to swallow enough that she's good for 2 hours!

Feed on demand! Try to keep her awake but tickling her. It helps some not a lot. You won't over feed baby. More latched the better in the beginning! Really helps your milk supply!

You won't over feed. My son usually goes for 15-20 and 5-10 of that his eyes are closed for. Even if she closes her eyes you can get her to eat a little longer so she'll give you more than an hour in between. Just rub her shoulder or cheek if she stops eating. As long as she's meeting her growth milestones keep doing what you're doing. But the more she eats the longer she'll be full between feedings.

I stopped timing soon as I was released from the hospital. I just let her decide when she's done lol
