Do you think that women who get pregnant on purpose should use programs like WIC?

For non-Americans; WIC is the Women, Infants and Children program which gives you a small amount of money each month for food. I believe it was started up to improve nutrition since so many poor/middle class families are malnourished. They have a high income cut off, in my state it's like $37,000 for a family of three (I know that doesn't sound like a lot but median income in my state is $22,000) and men aren't eligible for any benefits. I ask because I did get pregnant on purpose, and we happen to be just under the income limit until my husband is finished with his degree. My cousin has been dealing with infertility for years and is extremely critical of our choice to get pregnant on purpose and said she doesn't think I should get on WIC. We don't need the assistance, we live just fine on what my husband makes because we live cheaply and the cost of living is low here. I don't think it's that big of a deal, they don't even give you enough in benefits to feed yourself and your child, you still have to pay for half or more yourself. It's not like they're going to give me hundreds every month. And it's only until my baby is about 7 months old, after that my husband will have his degree and be making $90,000 a year. I feel like she's just being bitter. We will pay in way more in taxes (and probably have already) than I will ever use on WIC, and I feel like if it wasn't meant for better off families too the income limit wouldn't be so high. One of the big reasons why I want to use it is for the breastfeeding support and the information on how to keep my baby healthy they offer here. Not for the free groceries.
