Would I be protected from pregnancy if i have sex while I'm on the "period" part of the pack?

I've been on the pill and I know I'm protected while I'm on it, but when I'm on my period, I don't take the placebo pills... do I have more of a chance of getting pregnant if I have sex on my period?

Answer

The placebo pills are sugar pills. So you don't have to worry about taking them. But even though you're not taking any hormones during that week you are still covered. The pill is designed to build up hormones in your body over the three weeks you take the pill and then in the break week you will still have enough hormones to protect you from getting pregnant. Just make sure you start your new pack after your 7 days break week.
