Does spotting constitute as the first day of your cycle

Question

You would think at 35 I would know if spotting is considered day 1 of a cycle, but since I was never trying to conceive before I never cared to find out.

I never count spotting as the first day,when my bleeding gets heavier & red then that's when I mark it as day one.

Like my period comin off my BCP April 22, I had spotting April 23/24, very light 25, then spotting again the 26th, so I could it as period or else I'd be counting period as one day or even not at all since it was so light.

I count it as mine because when I was on BCP I would sometimes have only light spotting, then I'd have no period, then it would be super heavy. It was always different for me (anemia & hemorraghea & tilted uterus will do that lol) but I always counted spotting as day one.

Hi!  Don't feel silly!  I turn 37 in a couple days and have learned so much that I didn't know.  If you only spot one day I would count the first full day of flow as day 1.  Last month I spotted in the evening but not enough to use a pad or tampon.  The next day it was heavier and I counted that as day 1.  Hope this helps :)!
