Should I stay or should I go.

There's this really nice guy that I really like. He's very sweet, respectful, he seems responsible and he's very handsome. He makes sure to text or call me everyday and ask me about my day and talk with me. We both have one child and work and go to school. We've been flirting and communicating for almost 6 months but he hasn't taken me on any dates and whenever he does make plans he cancels them but is always very apologetic and has a pretty good excuse (his son is sick, he has work, or another emergency). I'm not sure whether I should just move on or be patient with him.
