safe to work out after 2.5 weeks?

I'm 2.5 weeks postpartum and feeling great. Hardly any bleeding, feeling back to normal "down there" and more energy than I've had in a LONG time...which is surprising since I could barely walk up a fligh of stairs without feeling winded before I had my baby!
I'm itching to get some activity in and work off this baby belly. I know I'm supposed to wait 4-6 weeks, but given that my bleeding has all but stopped, I had a vaginal delivery and I feel okay, do you think it's safe to start working out again?
