what's a good breast pump?

Hey mamas, I have been looking for a good breast pump, I'm thinking manual because the other ones are so expensive. I would like something that works well and won't break after a few months use. Nothing over 150$ either. Any suggestions?

Just ask your doctor for a prescription for one....free!!! I haven't figured out how to get it yet. I'm going to call my insurance company today to figure that part out though. FYI...don't just walk into CVS and hand them your prescription. They will look at you like an idiot...and shame you, and you will walk away feeling like an idiot. Well, it happened to me, anyway. 😳

I currently use Ameda which was free from my insurance. It works well but it's loud and makes this annoying beeping sound when it's on. It's small so it's travel friendly and can be battery operated. It's a closed system so milk and condensation doesn't get into the tubing or machine. With the right size flange, it pumps pretty much the same amount as the Medela Symphony (rented from the hospital) and the same amount of time.

I also have Medela's manual pump which works well. Its silent and compact. Good suction too. Great for a backup and for situations where there is no outlet or electricity.

If you're pumping frequently you may want to invest in an electric. You may be able to buy a Medela pump without all the extras for around that much. You don't have to use their tote, coolers, etc. You could also buy their accessories during a sale on Babies R Us website, usually a buy one get one half off type event.

I used the medela pump in style advanced but I know that's on the pricier side.  Did you check to see if your health insurance covers a pump?  I do have a manual one for emergencies but it is very time consuming and your hand cramps after a few min!

I used the Evenflo double electric breast pump before I got a Medea through my insurance. The evenflo worked really well. They only thing I didn't like was how loud it was.

I believe through insurance its free,  and a bit of a pain in the ass but also free with  Medicaid
