starting medicine. how'd you do/feel?

I finally reached out to my doctor today. I've been suffering from PPD, PPA and PTSD. What a combo. I'm also going to go to counseling soon. But I feel like I'm getting my ass kicked. I finally caved and am going to go on medication. She's starting me off with 20mg of Prozac. How did you feel going on medicine?

Answer

I lasted almost 16 weeks before I caved and started taking antidepressants again. I personally didn't see much difference on Prozac so I ended up on Zoloft which I've taken in the past and seen great results. My son has no side effects he's almost 7 weeks. For me the effects of having a severely depressed mother were much worse than the potential side effects of the meds. Feel better soon!

I felt trapped with constant appointments, medication refills, and knowing that I had to taper down off the medicine if I wanted to stop.. I couldn't just stop abruptly whenever I wanted to.  The medicine really helped but, after a few years of taking it,  I tapered off and self managed. It was just too expensive.
