Castor Oil to induce labor?

Question

I really don't want negative comments from people who 'heard' it was bad and 'why would I ever put myself and my baby through the risk'. Midwives and doctors recommend it and there's no scientific study done proving that it's bad for the baby. Babies poop in the womb all the time without castor oil so they're not linked together. I'm 39 weeks and nothing is working and I'm so uncomfortable. 3cm dilated 90% effaced for weeks and sweeps aren't working. Just really debating trying it but wondering what anyone else's experiences were with it?

Unless you want a shitty labor or possibly your baby suffering the consequences because you couldn't wait then I don't know what you expect.

Maybe you need to talk with your OB about doing so. Your baby will come when your baby is ready why force it.

39 weeks and uncomfortable 😂💀 wow. I was induced at 39 weeks due to gallstones and pancreatitis and then had surgery to get my gallbladder removed 2 weeks after l&b 😂 I WISH i could of had a natural labor and birth experience. WOWWW.

No method of home induction works unless you're about to go into labor. Sorry if that's too negative for you but it doesn't make it any less true. I hope you go into labor soon!!

I know 3 women who have tried it, didn't seem to do anything for any of them (all had to wait at least 4 more days).

My doctor told me it was okay as long as I wasn't overdue (that's when the risk for complications are higher). I tried it, and it gave me horrible diarrhea throughout the night. I went into labor the next day at 39w2days. Apparently the cramping from the pooping can kickstart contractions and put you into labor. I had a healthy 9lb baby 13 hours after arriving at the hospital. It does taste TERRIBLE so if your doctor says it's okay and you do it, Chase it down with grapefruit juice or something else strong. Something you don't mind the taste of being ruined for the rest of your life. Also, stay hydrated. I personally won't be doing it with this baby, just because I am at risk for preterm labor already and have had a rough pregnancy. But if you've had a healthy pregnancy so far, and your doctor gives you the go ahead, it's worth a shot.

so not true if you use castor oil the correct way then you shouldnt worry about baby pooping only if you use too much of a dosage if you are scared drink castor oil 1 tsp and try again at 3 to 4 hours if not so just take 2 tsp try to mix it with shake so it wont be so bad on running to toilet so bad

Following! I was looking into possibly taking this too. I've actually heard a lot of good things. I even heard that you're less likely to poop during delivery because you're all cleaned by that time. Just make sure you stay hydrated! And the people being negative on here obviously just haven't done any research about it. 🙄
