Is taking a break from a long-term relationship a bad idea?

Just been feeling disconnected lately and want him to realize im serious about this.

I don't believe in breaks personally, if u can't communicate and sort through issues together how can u sort them apart, but everyone's relationship is different

I wish we had taken a break. Instead we broke up for 3 weeks which in turn became a break. Gave us both a wake up call and made us realize that we want to be togeter. Start with maybe a week of no contact and see how it goes. Make it clear your only taking a break and that doesn't mean you two can go fuck someone else. It helps. My problem was we moved way to fast we moved in together at 6 months and then he bought an engagement ring after our 1 year. It was wayyy to fast for me. Now we don't live together anymore and don't plan on marriage for another couple years!

I don't think taking a break translates into being serious. If you guys can't work it out through a serious discussion and setting realistic goals or expectations, maybe it's time to move on :/
