a long hike & menstrual cups

Savannah 🌻
So less than a week from now I will begin thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail, a ~2,200-mile-long footpath that runs through 14 states, and I will be out there walking for ~5.5 months!! Living in the woods for nearly half a year sparks the question, "what the hell do you do when your period hits??". Well, after researching this question, I found an answer; a menstrual cup! The most popular and obvious choice seemed to be a Diva Cup; after all, it's pretty much the only one you can actually find in a store anyways. I attempted to work with this cup month after month, trying to reposition it and move around, and eventually even trying to cut off the stem. Nothing worked. I felt it every time I put it in, and it was SO uncomfortable. It would even begin to slide out at times. After doing more research I realized it must be because I have a low cervix. Okay, great! But how does that information help me? Well, I did even MORE research and took a little online quiz, and it gave me recommendations for menstrual cups based on my answers. One recommendation was the Lunette cup. These cups are shorter and smaller than the Diva Cups, so I decided it would be worth it to give it a shot. Well, I ordered it online, and upon receiving it in the mail I went ahead and cut off the stem. Here was the moment of truth. I tried it on and *drum roll* it worked PERFECTLY! It completely stayed in place and I didn't feel it at all! I am so excited to have found a menstrual cup that works for me and I'm excited to use it on the trail!! #AT2017 here I come!
