Bacterial Vaginosis?

Has anyone been diagnosed with bacterial Vaginosis? My doc called this morning saying my Pap smear showed that I have BV. I have no symptoms. She prescribed me 500mg of Metronidazole twice a day. It says on the label not to take during the first trimester. I'm 12 weeks 3 days. I'm a little worried about taking it. But it seems that the benifits of the medicine out weigh the risk. Anyone else been through this? Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

I had it at 8 weeks and they put me on the same thing.  It made me more nauseous than I was already.  I just had it again at 32 weeks and they put me on the same thing.  It cleared it up both times.  I'm now 35+4.  I was worried about taking it too so early on, but everything seems to be fine!  Hope this gives you piece of mind, and I hope you don't get it twice like I have.

I get them all the time!!! I gave up going to the doctor because it was costing too much! Now when I get one I just eat a cup of PLAIN yogurt a day and take a ph balancer! I hardly get them anymore!!!

I had it at 9 weeks. The bad scent and itchiness were signs to get checked out and glad I did. I was given a choice between the pills and vaginal gel, I so wish I would have known to go with gel. The pills made my m/s so much worse 😖 I ended up dehydrated and in the er.

I'm 25 weeks now, haven't had it since. I hope it clears up quickly for you!

You could use natural yoghurt. It's very helpful and always works! No need for pills :)

BV is just a disturbance between good and bad bacteria in your vagina. It can cause pre-term labour. How you get bacterial Vaginosis is unknown. Most of the time you don't have any symptoms and you never know you have it. It's common during pregnancy.
