I was supposed to be induced February 23rd at 6am so my doctor told me to go into the hospital at 7pm the 22nd to start softening my cervix. There are 3 doses you have to take to do this and I got my first dose at about 10pm- the next dose would be at about 1pm, but at about 12:30 I was trying to sleep and I heard a loud pop kind of equivalent to popping your back and water started leaking. I sat up and it gushed out of me. Contractions started immediately. I was having about 3 contractions within a minute and a half, so I couldn't get a break from them to get my body to relax in between. I lasted 2 hours of biting my pillow and gripping the railing of the bed to try to fight through them before I got my epidural. I don't like needles so I was paranoid about getting a giant needle in my back but I couldn't handle the contractions anymore. I went from a 1 to an 8 in about 4 hours and then got stuck at the 8. The nurses said that they'd wait for the doctor to come into check me again, but all night they had been saying that they'd leave me at a 10 for about an hour before I could start pushing. When my doctor came in about a half hour later she checked me and asked if I was ready to start pushing. About an hour and half- two hours before this though I could feel my epidural to start wearing off so I was starting to be in more pain again. Pushing sucked and it hurt and toward the end I kept praying for it to be my last push. I pushed for about an hour- hour and a half and finally my baby was born. The whole time in labor and during the pushing though they kept having me change positions because his heart rate kept going up and down. They almost got a high risk doctor in to finish my delivery, because my doctor was afraid his heart rate wouldn't go back up and they'd have to vacuum him out. Thankfully the last position change for it back up, but when he came out he was black and blue and they had to help him breathe for a few minutes. They think he probably swollowed a lot of fluid too. While I was delivering the after birth and getting my heart rate checked and everything they worked with him and got him where he needed to be without taking him the NICU so I was able to have skin to skin with him for an hour (:
