menstrual cups.... yay or nay?

Has anyone used the menstrual cups and if so how did it work for you?

I have a Diva cup. It's great! There's less mes involved with tampons and you can leave it in over night. I've always hated pads so the cup is great. It's also less expensive overall since you don't have to replace it often or buy a bunch tampons.

So much super yay. I don't dread my period anymore. It's only a minor twice a day inconvenience but way less uncomfortable. Swimming without strings hanging out of you, going for a long car ride or full day of travel without thinking about changing tampons or pads.. it's all great.

Plus I find it super interesting to see what my menstrual blood looks like and how much it is. I feel like it helps be aware of your general health to have a handle on both color and volume of blood

I love love love mine! I don't have to buy tampons now (though I still sometimes do) and it holds more than any tampon or pad ever could. Until I got on birth control, I had THE HEAVIEST periods, so the capacity was a huge selling point for me. Just go on youtube for how to videos and soak it in warm water before you put it in. It's a learning curve, but I love mine. :)

I just started using the moon cup, it's brilliant. No more changing tampons or pads. It's a bit hard to get the trick of at first - put it in at the wrong angle the first day and couldn't pee. But I put it a bit higher and further back rather than straight up and that solved that issue. Also getting it in and out takes a bit of practice, but when I take it out it's never spilled, which is good. Not from anything I've done, it just seems to come out that way. To get it out I found squatting and bearing down helps a lot, then I grab the base (cut the stem off) with my middle finger at the back and thumb at the front. No issues. Was a bit itchy for a few minutes after taking it out on the last day of my period, but that subsided quickly enough. On the last day which was really light I could leave it in 24hrs, no problem. On heavier days best to empty at max every six hours, at least for me. But I've had no issue with leaking or with trying to get the cup to seal in the vagina. I use the half fold method. You have to learn to relax your pelvic muscles a lot otherwise it just won't go in. If you learn it doesn't hurt, even though it looks massive.

At the end of the day I'd highly recommend one. They last months sometimes even years, save you money, and if you're on a form of birth control like I am (implant) that can cause irregular bleeding it's great - just pop your cup in and nothing to worry about.
