People should do what they feel is right for them.  Personally I wished I had waited for my husband . ..but I'm not ashamed or totally grief  stricken that I had premarital sex.

Not everyone waits for marriage to lose their virginity. it doesn't make them any better or any worse than someone who does wait till marriage.

Should people who may or may not even be religious stick to an arbitrary concept created during a time when marriage was a transaction between two men for financial stability or gain that places monetary value on a woman's vagina? 
Nah. No thanks. I know the concept has evolved somewhat since then and extended to men as well (sometimes) but I don't feel like it's fair to expect others to make decisions that aren't really based on logic.

There isn't a correct answer. It's for the individual person to decide. 
I never intended to wait till marriage. I waited until I was in a loving relationship and I have no regrets. 
But I also know people who have/and are still waiting until marriage, I would never tell them what they are doing is wrong or that they should just have sex and get it over with. 
Everyone is free to live and love as they wish.
