Is a controlling relationship a loving relationship?

Hey girllsss. I just got out of a relationship with my SO. He was very controlling. He would make me give him my phone when I've NEVER cheated on him, he was almost always logged into my social media accounts, and he hated me having guy friends. I never texted my guy friends, I just talked to them in school and I never flirted, and he told me "if it was up to me I wouldn't let you have guy friends." And recently we've been going thru things because he always blames everything on me and never takes responsibility and he told me to give him my passwords to see if I've been talking to anyone about our relationship and I didn't and I finally ended it and we were on and off after but now we're officially done. Does he sound controlling or is it just me?
