Does the Depo shot cause infertility?

I had my first depo shot in December and I still want to have kids in the future so should I switch to a different birth control or will I be okay?

I would not get the depo shot. I got one and it threw my body so off balance it took probably 8 months to get my weight, period, and cramping under control.

Depo shot can stay in the system for up to 18 months even with just one dose. BUT every woman is different. I was on depo for 6 years and took me 2 years to get pregnant. My mom was on it for 11 years after having me and got pregnant with my brother 2 months after getting off of it. Usually the doctor will tell you to take calcium supplements cuz it causes bone mass lose after so long.

It can over prolonged use. If you like it then get the implant because the implant is the exact same hormones as the shot but it will be released slowly & once you remove the implant the hormones are all gone whereas the shot still lingers after the 3 months
