Charting with 4 Periods a Year?

Question

I'm on birth control pills that only give me a period four times a year (off-brand Seasonique). I've been recording my bbt, weight, CM, etc but I'm wondering if the effectiveness is put off at all by the kind of pill I take. My bbt is all over the place. My CM seems random too.

Does anyone else take this kind of pill? How does the charting and tracking work for you?

You are taking a combined oral contraceptive. It contains estrogen and progesterone to artificially keep your hormones level. The intent of this is to prevent ovulation so you don't get pregnant. On natural cycles without hormonal birth control, a woman's estrogen will spike causing the LH surge which causes ovulation,  then progesterone takes over afterwards. These natural changes in hormones are what you chart - temps low with estrogen (before ovulation) and egg white cm before ovulation as estrogen rises, then temps high and dry cm after ovulation due to progesterone. Because the birth control gives you a constant dose of the same hormones, you don't have these fluctuations or the physical changes associated with them, so there is nothing to chart, nor is there a reason to chart.

My periods are completely different off of BC than on it. I resumed a normal cycle within 3 months and I even ovulated the 1st month off. My cycle was actually more regular when I first went off, now not so much with stress/etc. if you have any questions let me know.:-)

Why'd you want to chart on the pill? It gives you synthetic hormones so your info wouldn't be accurate.

Probably more info than you're looking for but...
Just an FYI I was on that bc for 2 years and I loved it, bc I had 4 periods a year. But I had TERRIBLE  pms like raging bitch, terrible cramps like 10 days before my period up til 2nd day, and I would get terrible migraines 15 days before my period was due. I have been on probably 4-5 diff brands of pills (including Yaz, Loestrin, others I can't remember) and I always got recurrent yeast infections all the time. I stopped bc in May and haven't had a yeast infection since and I've only had one severe migraine for 2 days, as opposed to once or multiple headaches lasting 4-5 days.
