Convertible Crib?

Question

I like the idea of those 4-in-1 convertible cribs, the kind that go from crib to toddler bed to day bed to full size bed.  Seems logical to have something so multi-functional.  I'm worried that the upfront cost of the crib and the conversion kits are too expensive, or that the storage of the conversion kits will be a pain (we live in a small house), or that a piece will break along the way rendering the whole thing useless... for those of you who have one, considered one, or wish they had one - would you say they are worth it?  Thanks!

It personally wasn't worth it to purchase a convertible for us. My son is 17 months and still in the crib, by the time he's ready he'll go into a full size bed, and a new baby will go into his crib. If we had used a convertible, we would then need 2 cribs, essentially.

My son has one of these, you can actually find hem for pretty reasonable prices and there's really nothing extra to store until you get to the toddler bed then one side comes off the crib then once you go to a full bed two sides come off the crib. So once it's all said and done he two longer sides are what you'd be storing when your child is old enough to be in a big bed. I think it's pretty worth it since you save on buying a toddler bed and a full size bed frame. I got my sons for around $130 and I've got one picked out for this baby for around $127

You can get cheap ones 👍🏼 not sure what or the quality is like but they get good reviews. (Sorry about all the dog pics on my phone 😂😂)

My thing with it is how likely are you to LOVE the same bed 10 years later? Or what condition will it be in? We have a convertible one but only because we bought it used. I personally think it's only good for the crib and then toddler bed. Once they are ready for a twin bed I think t will be too damaged or you may not like the style. To me it's not worth it.

I bought two for my twins and all the conversion kits for them. I paid around $800 for everything. And my husband and I live in an apartment as of right now and we just stored the kits in the closet and still have plenty of room! I think it was definitely worth it and will save us so much money down the road especially with twins!

My daughter had a convertible crib but only used the crib function. She didn't like sleeping in it when it had the toddler rail or even when we took the front rail off completely. We bought a twin bed for her two months before she turned two. 
However I would still recommend because every child is different. The conversion kits from crib to toddler to no rail were included. The only thing that was it was if you wanted to only use the large back piece for a headboard for a full sized bed. Maybe with baby #2 we will  buy the kit for the full sized bed.

Mine was from Amazon for $150 and all it came with was one little 2 ft bar to put up for the toddler bed, you can get the universal rails to turn it into a full when you're ready for $50, or less if you find them used when you're ready so you don't have to store them!
