Do you think employers value an online masters degree?

I read that in the past they were skeptical but it's been coming more accepted with the increased use in technology... what is your opinion??

Like Kay said, it depends. Generally though, there are fewer Masters degree holders than Bachelors, so having one can allow you more employment opportunities and provides a competitive edge. Often employers are more concerned with the concentration of the Masters and how it can be translated versus where the degree was actually obtained.

As long as a school is accredited then I don't think people would look down on it. Those proprietary schools are built for non traditional students. Most people need online courses if they are career professionals and/or have family responsibilities.

I got mine online and was employed before I even got my certificate with several offers on table! I feel as though mine is taken seriously

A masters in business from trump university, no.

It depends hugely on the school offering it and what field it is.

My MBA was online because I worked full time while earning it. I took advantage of my company's tuition reimbursement program, so it was free. If an employer ever brings up why I chose online school-I will be honest and tell them I was working full time so that I wouldn't go into debt and needed flexible classes. My performance reviews at work and GPA are proof that I juggled both quite well, which I hope is a better indication of my potential performance than where I got my degree.

It depends.  My brother is the President of HR for a large, multinational corporation. We've had a conversation about this subject. He refers to degrees from places like University of Phoenix as a "buy a degree". Needless to say, his corporation doesn't hire graduates from there.

On the other hand, I know several NP's with degrees from there that have jobs.
