If a couple is engaged to be married and having a baby before the wedding, should the baby get the Dad's last name, the Mom's last name, or a hyphenated last name of the two?

It's up to the parents. There's no rule...though personally if you're planning on taking his name at some point anyway you might as well give that name to the baby as well

dad always. I know a lot of girls who aren't married but have a baby and put the baby's last name their baby's dad.

Whatever the parents want. I don't really see what difference it makes if they're married or not.

It really depends. I'm adopted and my last name mean a lot to me. So I don't want to change it after marriage. I also don't want my baby to have a different last name than me. So we will either hyphenate the baby, or my SO will hyphenate after marriage.
