So l work at a museum as a gift shop clerk. Please, keep in mind that I am very good at my job and have never had a complaint and I am in no way, shape, or form mean (even if the costumer is being an ass to me.) Well it is our policy that at 4:30 p.m. I have to lock the doors to get into the building except for 1 and I hang up the "CLOSED" sign. We do this because we have had incidents of people coming in at that time that were pretty threatening. Anyways, we close at 5:00 p.m. and I push 3 buttons, the first at 4:30 to say we will be closing in 30 minutes. The second at 4:45 to tell people we are getting ready to close in 15 minutes and to make their way to the gift shop and exit's. The last at 4:55 to say we are official closed and to please exit the building so that I can count the till without the fear of us being robbed. This is the rules set in place by to college because that is who runs the museum. Well last night this lady comes in at about 4:35, (right after I just finished locking the doors)through the door I leave unlocked. She asks if we are still open. I say yes, for about another 20 minutes. She says ok, leaves, and returns at about 4:40 with her son that looked about 5 and her daughter that looked about 3-4. They come in and start looking through the gift shop for a birthday gift for her son's friend. They ended up buying some Lego like things we have here. Then she says that her son would like to look at the dinosaur side of the museum (we have 2 sides, paleontology and archeology) and asks if she needs to lay for that. I say no, you will here a prompt in about 3 minutes saying that you have 15 minutes till closing go ahead and go in FREE!! I let her in FREE people!!! Well, I lush the button and as soon as I that they go upstairs. Well after a little bit it is 4:50 and they still haven't left. By this time my boss is down and ready to close with me, but we can't until they leave. They come down at 4:55 and try to go into archaeology which I told them has been closed for the night. They leave after this. I come into work today and she has filed a complaint against us for closing at 4:30 saying that "she couldn't get in to buy her gift and it was only 4:30". She also filed one saying that I was rude to her while she was on her visit. Ok, 1. How can I be rude to you on your visit if you couldn't get in? And 2. How was I rude to you? I let you in after the time I am supposed to AND let you in FREE!! I didn't have to do either of those things. People need to respect rules! I lock the doors because I have to. We close at 4:55 hence why you didn't get to take your kid all the way through. If you want to do that, come earlier, not at closing time! And don't get me in trouble for something I didn't do. My boss was there and saw the whole thing and knows that I wasn't mean to you, so you're just making yourself look like an ass! Rant over. Thank you! 😑
