when should I tell my employer?

When should I tell my employer that I am pregnant? I'm 4 weeks almost 5. I work at a dollar general so I'm literally on my feet all day and sometimes have to lift things.

I worked more then full time standing on my feet running around and lifting heavy things and sometimes it also became a stressful environment and I worked my a** off but I managed to work up too 5 hours before I went into labour. and then upkept my house on my own as I am a single parent.  being active is good for you an baby but tell your manager when your comfortable too and if you continue to work or not well that's your own personal choice but it is possible and normally safe unless your doc says otherwise. we may be pregnant but not made of glass!

If your body is use to the same work, then there is no reason to have to have someone else move 'heavyweight'. If it is not what your body is used to and is way heavier then you think you can handle, just ask someone for assistance. You don't have to tell them this early on because some employers will cut your hours if you can't do the work. They can't fire you but they can make things very difficult for you.

I used to work at dollar general myself !!!! I told my boss because he had to lift the totes and move them . I told him when I found out . At 4.5 weeks.

I told mine right at 4 weeks, because I knew he'd be understanding if I needed time off. I work 12 hour days often 6-7 days a week. It's not a strenuous job, but the hours are a killer, and I need relief sometimes. I'm very glad I told him.
