Pequeño/pequeña means small
Chiquito/chiquita means small but not as formal. I personally use both depending on what Im describing or who I am talking to. Haha how about when we want to say its really small.. pequeñito or chiquitito lol spanish can be so complicated.

So chicito is for masculine, and pequeña is for feminine. Unlike english, spanish assigns gender to everything so if I want to say like, a small fork, itd be, un chicito tenedor, since fork is masculine.

I use pequena, but I do use a more European style of Spanish.  Not too sure about Chiquito or whatever that was!
