Long sleeping gowns in the car seat?

Would it be safe to pull it up as far as needed to safely buckle her and put a thin blanket over her.

Due in May and it will be hot where I live by then.

No. They all have elastic bands at the bottom.  U WOULD need to lift it all the way up for the buckles to fit right and not be uncomfortable. A one piece onsie is much better. Shirt sleeve, long legs, short legs, doesn't matter as long as it fits good and it's safe.

I would suggest either a short sleeve short leg onesie or outfit the buckles can get pretty hot in the summer

We had one of these for my daughter! We just had to move the elastic up enough to buckle her, which was difficult and seemed really uncomfortable. If anything, I'd find something that didn't have elastic at the bottom.
