Possible days to get pregnant?

In health class (grade 12 highschool) we are taught you can only conceive 5 days before ovulation, and the 12-24 hours after ovulation. Therefore, I was taught that there are only 6 possible days to conceive in your cycle. So hypothetically, if I knew my exact time of ovulation, would the only possible days to get pregnant be the 5 days before and one day after? Thank you for taking the time to read this!
