Can masturbating induce labor?

My boyfriend won't have sex with me because he's sick and I'm trying to get my body ready to deliver. I've been horny lately and just masturbated and I was wondering if that will help induce labor or dilate me?

My midwife said sperm is the best to soften your cervix and orgasm is good to contract your uterus. You've got 1/2 going, I'd say it's good! 😉

While you don't get the prostaglandins from sperm to soften your cervix, I can imagine that orgasming and releasing oxytocin couldn't hurt?

My doctor told me today every contraction I have between now and actual labor will help the process. I joked with hubby that I'll be masturbating daily until he comes 😝 it causes your uterus to contract and does release oxytocin so it could help.

No...it can cause spasms...but won't help you dilate. There is an enzyme in sperm that helps the cervix spasm and thin out. Sorry.  :(
