Can long distance relationships with opposite schedules be maintained?

I go to school and live in Kansas City while my boyfriend lives and works in Saint Louis. He recently got a new job and his schedule had a huge shift. While I'm at school he's sleeping, when I get home he goes to work, and when he gets home I'm sleeping. We still find a few minutes to talk every day but I am feeling really down. I feel like I'm putting in more effort to try and talk to him but I also know he has a busier and more stressful day. If you were in my situation would you continue the relationship or have a break?

It's defiantly do able. My boyfriend and I have been in a LDR for about a year now. We make time to see eahother during off season but now that baseball had started up again I won't really see him as much. You both have to put in effort and set a day to sit down and talk about your day. I know it's a big adjustment and it's hard to get use to but it's def do able. Try looking at it differently. Try being more positive. That's helped me. I was always mad that he was busy or too tired to actually talk to me but now I just call when I can and we talk for maybe two minutes but it's better than nothing. If you really want to be with this person you should stay and work it out. Long distance is hard work but its worth it if he's the one you love!! Hope this helps.

My boyfriend is two hours ahead of me timewise and I'm in vet school- I leave for school at 8am and I'm not home till 8-10pm which makes it really hard to talk to my boyfriend during the week. We text during the day and Snapchat- but there are some days that we don't talk at all. When we do have time to talk we have long conversations (2-3 hours generally). Its not ideal at all but it's the only thing that works. We'll see eachother every 2-4 months for a few weeks at a time or only a couple days. Honestly I hate it and if I didn't know what it was like to lose him I don't know if I could do it. But we broke up when I left for vet school. It was hell on Earth and neither one of us coped well. We're stronger for that break up I think. We do some things to let each other know we're thinking about each other like leaving voicemails even though we know the other person is busy and sending eachother letters or care packages. I stress bake so he gets a lot of cookies and cakes because I never eat what I bake and there's only so much that I can feed my friends.

LDRs suck- especially when you don't get to talk to your SO often. It's hard. But he's worth it to me- our relationship and our future together is very important to both of us so we're going to do everything we can to make this work.

Girl, I feel ya. My fiancé and i aren't even long distance but he works nights, I work days. we're both full time college students as well. I feel I never see him. It's difficult to be honest. Plus we also live in KC.

At least you're in the same country. I tried to have an LDR with a guy in Japan and that was a disaster. So yeah opposing schedules can really be tough. It all depends on how much you want to make this work. You can do it if you want to do it. But you have to be willing to try 100%

Me and my husband are stationed 1000 miles apart and sometimes we're on opposite shifts but we'll talk when we can and have a dedicated date Skype night.
