So based on reading my employee handbook and the length I have short term disability, I was under the impression that I would have 3 months leave with my baby. I could then opt into using my vacation time should I choose. This has been my plan for the past 31 weeks, and I was so excited to have that time off.

Now that I'm filling out paperwork and talking more to HR, they are telling me I am only allowed 6 weeks. If I choose to take any more it will be unpaid. My heart is broken. I just lost a month and a half of my baby growing up. Why can't the US get their crap together and learn family is important.
