weeks vs months and years?

My husband asked me this question the other day and I had no idea how to answer it lol..

he asked me why when you ask women how old their child is they respond with he/she is 26 weeks or 15 months instead of just saying 6 months or 1 year old?

This drives me nuts too! 'My kid is 47 months old....' *tries to divide 47 by 12*

Obviously that's an extreme example 🤣

I use weeks til they hit 3 months  and months until they hit 2 years.

It's because in the first couple years, development and doctors appointments are usually addressed by weeks. Also there are times when baby is going through growth spurts or developmental leaps and those are also usually happening at certain weeks. It bothered me too before I had a baby and now I get it lol. Although when people ask, I say my son is 6 months.

Because they are weird. Even during pregnancy i never told weeks. Strangers in passing dont want to do that math. I started months after 6 weeks pretty much.

I worked st a kids play place and we rolled out eyes if you said the age was 18 months or something. One. Your child is one. Thats all we need. Wanna get fancy? One and a half

Well I don't get the weeks vs months in the first year but it makes more sense to me in the second year.  A 12 month old is a lot differed from a 22 month old development wise.  So if you just say one year, there could be a huge difference.  I guess you could just say almost two!

The only way it makes sense when people do by month when they're over a year is when it comes to clothes because you still have 18 and 24 month till they get to two t. I just go by year cause it's easier for everyone
