Depression before baby's birth is a real thing, and there can be so much influencing it. The best thing to do is talk to a specialist now, instead of making any big descision a or letting it get worse.

I want you to know; you are not a bad person for feeling this way.

I am dealing with some heavy stuff from my partner's family, and its preventing me from bonding with my baby, and quite honestly, there's even been times in the last week where I have been so tempted to walk out. I hate it.

Families, hormones, existing depression and bi-polar, vitamin imbalance; there are so many things that can affect how you feel during pregnancy. We can't help how we feel, and it can make us feel powerless. Take the first step now, and see a professional. Don't let yourself suffer in silence ❤️

It also could be that your man is a jurk and need to be told. Also it could mean your thyroid is low or too high like mine was. Or less or what the ladies are saying.. if you're not in a healthy relationship that can make you want to give up also. I wish you the best and I'll pray for you

And for what ever  reason, being alone in our place with my son, there was just this euphoric moment, and he was my baby. He is now 4 and we have an incredible bond and I would do anything for him and would protect him at all costs. Sorry for the long story, but I promise you, you are not the only one who is going through this. I didn't get help and it was hard but I got through it, but I would recommend a support system. Like I said it's been 4 years and I still haven't told my husband or my family about how I felt while pregnant back then or right after having him, it's hard to go through alone, and can make things worse, but wait and give things time and it will work out. It's the damn crazy hormones, I never thought they would effect me, and I felt normal in every other way, but the hormones are real and you have to wait a little for them to clear out. This pregnancy (26w3d) I've also had some struggles with depression, but I have my son, I have my mom to talk to now, and I also know that I can do this. You can do it :) I wish you the best of luck and just follow your heart and do what you think is right and that's all you can do.

It's hard to be excited about being a mom when you don't get along with the baby's father. Just remember this baby is yours! You have been growing this miracle in you all these months, and you can be proud of that!  You can be happy to start this new chapter in your life even if that doesn't include the father. Build a happy life with you and your baby, make this time happy for you and your baby!

I use to get really depressed hearing people say things like "a woman becomes a mom when she gets pregnant but a dad becomes a father when the baby is born" or "you are carrying so you are instantly connected to the baby over your partner"..... for me that wasn't the case. When I was pregnant with my son I was incradbaly nerivous. I kept thinking, can I do this, can I even be maternal? Everyone has always told me my whole life how caring I am and when I was in high school/college I was very much a "mama hen" when we'd go out to parties and things, making sure everyone had safe rides and girls wet not left behind haha, I still had plenty of fun ;). But could I do this White a child, my child. I got into a pretty bad depression because I was reading so many pregnancy stories and books......they all seemed so happy and perfect..... well of corse they are or they wouldn't be selling the book! Anyway it was worsened because I felt like I couldn't talk to my husband about it, I didn't want him to think I was having second thoughts about being pregnant. Long story short...... things worked out, I just focused on work and preparing for baby, we got into a new apartment around 6months and I was able to nest a little bit and that helped. Even at the hospital being induce I was nervous, I mean that was it, end of the line, no turning back, baby boy was coming. When they put him in my chest I though "that has to be the moment when things just click" but it didn't.  My husband was exctatic and crying and I was left there in a daze like WTF just happened. We had to spend two nights at the hospital and I still felt like I had to hide all my emotions. When we made it back to the apt and my husband had to go back to work, I was left alone with our son.

I never felt connected with my son before he was born. Some women have that connection. Not saying I wasn't excited and happy to meet him but I felt silly talking to him and it wasn't until we met that I felt that connection and true love. Granted if something was to happen before he was born I would of been devestated.....so if you don't feel at least happiness with your unborn child then it could be something more but if it's simple connection I wouldn't worry. It's hard being pregnant though, your hormones are all over the place and you honestly just feel crappy and ugly or at least some of us. It gets better hun but doesn't hurt to talk to your dr or midwife!

I would talk to a doctor if you can. They can help you determine if you're just feeling down or actually depressed. It's better to take care of it early so you are less likely to deal with postpartum depression
