When did you stop asking asking presents?

So my birthday is tomorrow and I haven't asked anyone for anything. People keep asking me what I want and I say nothing. I feel like they think I'm being cliche, but I genuinely DON'T want or need anything. Should I ask for something small or should I hold my ground? When did you stop asking for birthday presents? Now that im 18, ill still ask but it'll be things like a crockpot or dishes or something for a household. I wont ask for them specifically but if someone wants to know what i want then ill tell them household items

I'm 23 and I just ask a present from my husband... the rest of my family I just ask to spend some time ( a dinner) with them to celebrate.

I've only gotten birthday presents like twice or so before. One was a really soft pillow and a sweater (I think I was 15) and another was bubbles, a Disney princess ball, and a shitton of shaped Mac n' cheese (I was 16 for that one 😂) Birthdays have never been that big in my family, I only ever had one birthday party and I hated it.

Around 15-16? I just don't expect anything from people. I mean there are things I'd like, but I don't ask for them because I think it's a waste of money.

I'm 20 and still go home for Christmas so I get Christmas gifts and if I see my parents around my birthday I'll get a gift too. They always ask what I want and I'll ask for stuff I need. Like gift cards to grocery stores, dish towels, new bedding, etc. This year my parents are helping me pay for bedroom furniture because I'm still in university and moving to my first unfurnished apartment. So we're splitting the bill. I haven't asked for something non-household related since I was about 17 when I was still living at home.
