argue about the house

Every argument we have always seems to be about the house. My husband was rised with very neat, clean, organized family  so he expects that from me.  My house isn't dirty but we has a lot of stuff so I'd say it looks kinda cluttered. I pick up my babies toys at night but by morning there all over the living room. I feel he wants the house just so for when he gets home.  I just don't know what it is that bothers him but he doesn't tel me he just says smart ass comments then I get pissy and we don't talk!
