Okay to go to Mexico while your TTC??

Supposed to go to Mexico next month butif I've heard it's not a good,idea. Opinions??

Friend of mine got Zika in Cancun. I traveled outside of the country as well to elsalavador where it's realllyyyy bad. I wore mosquito repellent every second I was there. Day and night!!! I re-applied like a maniac and we were also TTC during that time. Thanks to the grace of God I did not get Zika.

I was in Cancun two weeks ago, I didn't see one mosquito. We wore bug spray if we were going out at night or into heavily dense areas (on excursions) and we were fine, I didn't have any problems and I'm ttc

Depends on where you are going. Places in Mexico with tropical weather will have more mosquitoes. Although I haven't heard anything on the news about new cases

Talk to your doctor. I was in Bali for 2 weeks in January for my honeymoon. Zika is endemic there...I was super paranoid about Zika/Dengue before we went. I got a rash all over my body towards the end of my trip and absolutely freaked out.

I went to the doctor as soon as I got back to get tested and my doctor said the chances were so low of getting Zika in Bali that she was going to have to lie to the testing facility and say I had a stopover of a flight through Florida to get there or they wouldn't even test my sample! Good to be diligent about mosquito bites and careful about where you travel, but don't panic needlessly (like I did) Ask for your doctor's advice whether Mexico is on the "list" of countries where it's a risk right now.

If it's on the list of places with active Zika transmission, you should talk to your doctor before going forward with any travel plans. Are you and your husband traveling together, or not? Women are supposed to wait 8 weeks after last possible exposure. But men are supposed to wait 6 months after last possible exposure.

Like I said, you really need to talk to your doctor about travel plans. My husband and I went to the Dominican Republic last fall. Therefore, we waited 6 months to TTC because the Zika risk simply is not worth it to us.
