Why do we get huge period blood clots? Having super terrible cramps after being three days late and just passed a huge clot.

Answer

Your body releases anticoagulants to thin the blood so it can pass easily. When your flow is too fast/heavy the anticoagulants don't have enough time to do their job and leaves you passing clots. This can be normal for some, but it can also be a sign of an underlying issue like a hormone imbalance, endometriosis, medication, etc. If you have them frequently, they're larger than a quarter, or if this is abnormal for you then you should see a doctor to rule out any underlying issues.

The clots are the uterine lining you cramp because the uterus is shedding severity of cramps differs from person to person and also from one person month to month
