How long did you TTC for before thinking about getting yourself and SO tested?

I'm coming up on the end of my 4th month TTC and while I know from other posts that it's nothing compared to how long some of you have been trying, I'm already thinking about what steps need to be taken to see how we are going to make this baby. I don't want to wait too long when the solution could be simple.
